Cessna Citation XLS

Out-performing most mid-size private jets, Cessna’s Citation XLS is more than just an updated version of the Citation Excel—it adds cabin space, speed, and range. The business jet has proven its reliability and convenience since it was introduced in 2004, quickly becoming a favorite among pilots and passengers alike. This aircraft is truly unique in that it has a remarkably short takeoff and landing distance requirement for a mid-size jet, allowing it to land at more locations and take off faster than other jets in its class. The Citation XLS has exceptional handling capabilities and consistently delivers smooth and seamless flights. Reliable systems, high-performance engines, and pilot-friendly avionics make for simple and efficient flights every time.

Citation XLS Features

Interior

The Cessna Citation XLS can comfortably accommodate eight passengers in a cabin that measures 18.7 feet in length, 5.7 feet in height, and 5.5 feet in width with a total volume of 461 cubic feet. Thanks to a triple-sealed entry door and triple-pane windows, passengers will find the cabin quiet and draft-free. Fold-out tables and sliding headrests increase comfort and mobility within the cabin, allowing for flexible configurations based on your needs—and the XLS’s seats are four inches wider than those on the Excel, introducing added comfort. In addition to the jet’s six executive seats, a couch adds extra comfort and is safety certified for takeoff and landing.

LED lights illuminate the cabin above the seats in an eco-friendly way, producing less heat than traditional lighting and creating a more natural feel. The XLS comes standard with air conditioning systems that ensure the cabin remains at a comfortable temperature even during extreme weather conditions. This mid-size jet offers an exceptional 90 cubic feet of storage space for baggage, 80 cubic feet of which is external, with the remaining 10 cubic feet being internal and accessible to passengers during flight.

Performance

The Citation XLS has a range of 1,687 nautical miles and can take off in just 3,500 feet of runway. It can climb to 43,000 feet in just 25 minutes—or 48 minutes faster than the Citation Excel. A design incorporating low-positioned wings greatly reduces drag, while increasing speed and performance.

In another upgrade from the Excel, the XLS’s dual Pratt & Whitney PW545B engines provide about 4.5 percent more thrust than the previous model’s engines. A high-pressure core increases the XLS’s engines thrust to 3,975 pounds each and drastically reduces fuel consumption. When it comes to taxiing and landing, the XLS’s high-capacity carbon brakes and trailing-link landing gear system ensure smoothness.

Avionics

The cockpit of the Cessna Citation XLS features the extremely pilot-friendly Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics suite. Information is consolidated into three screens, and the positioning of relevant controls drastically improves the pilot’s hand-eye coordination. As an added convenience, pilots only have to set flight systems once after takeoff, as the XLS then automatically adjusts in flight.
