This year’s winner of the 2017 Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award is the 1954 Maserati A6GCS/53 Berlinetta, bodied by Pinin Farina. It was one of only eight finalists competing for the title, including winners from the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Amelia Island Concours de Sport, Palm Beach’s the Gran Turismo Ferrari Cup, and more.
The winning vehicle was reviewed and chosen by 24 world class judges, including car experts, designers, and celebrities known for their vehicle adoration. One of the celebrity judges, Jay Leno, said the 1954 Maserati “deserved the award not only for its astounding display of modern innovation, but also because it has been restored in a way that preserves the design as it was intended.”
As one of only four Berlinetta-bodied sports cars produced by Pinin Farina, this 1954 Maserati is considered as the best preserved. Last year, it won the Best in Show at the 2016 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
