How Do Jet Cards Continue To Rise in Popularity?

Posted by Brendan Rice on May 12, 2016 10:30:00 AM

The jet card isn’t a brand new idea, but it certainly seems that way with how often we hear about them. There are so many options now it is almost dizzying to pick one.  Although the current leader in the space is Marquis Jet, which was founded by Kenny Dichter in 2001 and sold to Berkshire Hathaway’s NetJets in 2010, more companies are adopting the method. Marquis Jet charges a little bit more than $100,000 for a 25 hour card.  The typical CEO knows that is far less time than is needed to travel the world.  Companies like Magellan Jets and Sentient Jet are finding new ways to help jet cards remain the best option for private travel. Here are three reasons why jet cards continue to rise in popularity.

Jet Cards

1. The Financial Benefits Compared To Ownership

Business travel is supposed to make money, not lose it.  Even if there are million dollar deals to be done overseas, it really doesn't serve much purpose if your company is bankrupting itself to get there for the handshake. With the exception of a select few businesses, a jet card is a much more cost efficient option than fractional or full ownership because you are only paying for the hours used and nothing more.

2. Aircraft Inconsistency Is No Longer An Issue

One of the only knocks on Jet Card Membership (if any) vs full/fractional ownership, was that you may not always be able to fly on the same quality of aircraft.  The idea of not having the quality of aircraft you paid for available is a bit daunting given the cost of flying private. However, companies like NetJets took a step in the right direction by offering a 25 hour card to pick between two aircraft categories.  Now, Magellan Jets offers jet-specific memberships for 10 different aircraft. The success of these two style membership programs likely means more companies will follow suit on NetJets and Magellan Jets.

3. Customizable Membership Options Are Better Than Ever

As the in-flight experience continues to evolve, many companies are finding new ways to make the membership as close to an extension of the customer as possible.  It started with small things, like a favorite meal or memorabilia placed on-board, but has evolved to where almost everything can be customized.  NetJets, Magellan Jets, Sentient Jet and all the top companies are looking for new ways to personalize the flight expereince.  Magellan Jets allows clients to build their own card where you can pick number of hours, waive peak surcharges, receive fuel discounts, and a combination of many other things that make these memberships truly "personalized".

 Customiazble Memberships

Jet card options continue to evolve and all the major players are constantly looking to find the personal touch that no one else is offering.  Magellan Jets makes a number of personal accommodations that make the idea of buying hours on an aircraft a bit more comforting.  Check out all the customizable perks and add-ons in our jet-specific memberships
