The Citation family will grow by one next year as Cessna begins the flight test program for their latest small jet; the M2. Engineered to bridge the gap between Cessna’s Citation Mustang and CJ family, the M2 will accommodate six passengers and fly at speeds around 400 knots. The M2 will be a versatile business tool and will feature the very latest in technology. The aircraft will serve as a platform for testing the Garmin G3000 avionics suite and Williams FJ44-IAP-21 turbofan engines.
“The aircraft performance, handling characteristics and Garmin G3000 avionics were exceptional,” said Cessna engineering test pilot Peter Fischer after the first test flight March 9th.Cessna is confident the M2 project will continue to progress on schedule and within budget, projecting a release date by July of 2013.
