When it comes to private jets, Gulfstream is the king of the hill. With the G650, set to hit the skies in the next few months, it is looking to cement its number one position. With a $64.5 million price tag, the G650 will come with all the technological and luxury bells and whistles anyone would expect. The airworthiness of the aircraft keeps the Gulfstream on track with its plan to deliver the first fully outfitted G650’s to customers by the end of 2012.
The New York Post reported in 2011 that Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, and Ralph Lauren all want one. Gulfstream will not reveal the names of buyers, but verified that it has received more than 200 orders for the private jet.
The G650 will fly at Mach .925, nearly the speed of sound.

With a range of more than 8,000 miles, it can fly from Dubai to New York without landing.
It has room for eight passengers and a crew of four.

It has the tallest, longest, widest cabin in its class.

Gulfstream announced on Friday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted a type certificate for their new, ultra-long-range G650 business jet. This means the FAA has reviewed the flight test results, approved the manufacturing processes and materials, and allowed Gulfstream to build and sell the aircraft without restriction.
Savanna, GA based Gulfstream has taken orders for more than 200 aircraft and plans to deliver the first fully-fitted production model by year's end. Speaking in a press release Gulfstream's president Larry Flynn said, "The G650 is a superlative aircraft with the most technologically advanced flight deck in business aviation and the largest, most comfortable cabin in its class. In short, the G650 speaks to all that is good about business aviation: safety, security, flexibility, comfort, and capability."
Technology

Among the advancements in the Gulfstream G650 is the PlaneConnect HTM system. This system monitors 10,000 parameters almost real-time and transmits the information to the aircraft's maintenance department for up-to-date monitoring of vital avionics, engine, environmental, and other systems. It also powers the cutting-edge cockpit information system, PlaneView, to deliver timely, relevant information to the crew.
The PlaneView cockpit system represents the most advanced next-generation flight deck on the market. It brings together the most current instrumentation, like WAAS-LPV and FANS, with new communication systems such as controller-pilot datalink communications (CPDLC) and advanced, 3D weather radar to provide pilots with an unprecedented level of situational awareness.
Comfort

The G650's cabin, measuring 102" wide by 77" high, leaves ample room for customization. Customers can break the cabin up into several separate living spaces to make long flights with several passengers more comfortable. The advanced pressurization system keeps the cabin altitude below 4,000 feet at typical cruising altitudes, helping increase alertness while reducing stress and fatigue. With large windows, the G650 provides great views to go along with the smartly-outfitted interior. Features such as lighting, temperature, entertainment, and attendant call are controlled via iPod Touch remote controls for greater flexibility and ease of use.
You can plan to book Gulfstream G650 private charter flights early next year.

Gulfstream announced yesterday that their newest Super-Midsizes offering, the G280, had received it's type certification in the U.S. and Israel. The paves the way for them to begin full-scale production of the new jet.
The last step in the process, the certification of the the Rockwell Collins custom software for the new PlaneView280 flight deck, cleared the way for a full type certificate issuance.
Larry Flynn, Gulfstream's president said, "Gulfstream is excited to bring this aircraft to its customers, especially since we're able to provide an airplane that does more than we originally announced." The range of the final design bested the original plans by 200 nm at Mach 0.80, bringin the new range to 3,600 nm. This allows trips like London-New York to be completed without a fuel stop.
Gulfstream plans to deliver their first production model before the end of the year to a corporate jet customer. They're also looking forward to the full certification of their new wide-cabin Gulfstream G650 by the end of September.

The Cessna Citation Ten
Cessna announced last week that they will be raising the top speed of their Citation Ten business jet to Mach 0.935. This remarkable milestone in Cessna’s impressive history surpasses the speed of the Citation X, which currently holds the fastest civilian aircraft speed distinction. This means that the X will lose its throne has the fastest civilian aircraft in the world, giving way to the latest addition in Cessna’s family of business jets. Until last week, the coveted speed title was going to be claimed by Gulfstream with their new G650 until Cessna added winglets and redesigned engines on the Ten to outpace the G650 by Mach 0.10. Amidst the heated battle between the two aviation titans, who will cross the finish line first is tough to predict. Both companies have a long history of designing and redesigning aircraft that outperform those of the competition. What is sure to occur, however, is the unveiling of two remarkable aircraft that will appeal to the wide range of needs our clients demand.
The Gulfstream G650
When two companies go head to head in a competition, they are certain to put their best step forward in every phase of the design process. Speed, amongst other things, is one of the single most important factors that influence clients to fly privately. “As our founder Clyde Cessna said, ‘Speed is the only reason for flying,’ so at Cessna we design, engineer, manufacture and fly the fastest civil aircraft in the world…so [customers] can work faster, more efficiently and get the job done,” said Cessna president and CEO Scott Ernest. “The Cessna team took the already powerful Citation X and made it that much better.” A Gulfstream spokeswoman told Aviation International News that “We congratulate Cessna on this achievement.” The lines seem to be clearly drawn and time will tell which aircraft comes out on top.

In an effort to save money, possibly in the lead up to the United Kingdom Royal Wedding of Price Harry and Kate Middleton, Prince Charles has opted for some alternative travel plans. In planning for a trip to the United States to visit President Obama as well as address an agriculture conference, the Prince chose to forgo a very large, government-owned private jet with full entourage on the British dime, instead opting to borrow his personal friend Joe Allbritton’s private Gulfstream IV as a favor.
On his travels between May 3 & 5, just days after the Royal Wedding of his son Prince William, it is confirmed that neither Prince Charles nor the UK taxpayer will pay a cent toward the flight over, instead having the Texas financier cover the cost.
While some are chiding the Prince for not acknowledging the carbon impact of such a decision, the prince's communications secretary Paddy Harverson argued that they, “always do consider the carbon impact of our travel plans, but we have to take into account a number of important factors when deciding how to travel, such as security, and the guarantee of prompt departure and arrival times…When these and other factors are taken into account, we decided that the use of the private charter was the best practical option to ensure the trip could go ahead smoothly.”
While some view private jets as a lavish, unnecessary expense, chartering such a flight has proven its worth time and time again. With the ability to fly in and out of smaller, less crowded airports with no wait to pass through security, as well as the ability to deal with decreased air traffic, private jets provide passengers the ability to retain the most valuable resource: time.

Bigger, faster, and better! It's a lot of people's motto. Owning a jet is a big accomplishment for any individual, let alone a large luxury jet like a Gulfstream.
New Orleans native Tyler Perry, producer, director, and actor who earned a whopping $125 million last year for his work, recently purchased a Gulfstream III. However, Perry’s jet is no ordinary Gulfstream--it has a brand new custom screening room! The Gulfstream III has a 42-inch HD LCD screen installed (the largest of its kind to ever be installed on a Gulfstream). The system is fully equipped with multiple Blu-ray players, satellite TV, theater lighting, and electronically controlled window shades. Just choose the movie you like, kick back, and relax while you cruise comfortably cross-country at 41,000 feet. Also installed on board the jet are iPod docking stations for music, ports for computer video, and additional 20-inch and 10.2-inch personal HD screens.
When you plan your next charter flight make sure you ask one of our on-demand charter experts about charter jets with amenities like satellite TV, WiFi, and sound systems. Make sure you get the most out of your private flight experience with Magellan Jets!

Now I’m feelin' so fly like a G6, like a G6, like a G6.
You might recognize these lyrics from the Billboard Top 100 song, “Like a G6”. The electro-house single by Far East Movement has been number 1 on iTunes and currently has more than 9 million views on YouTube.

So why is it that you’re “feelin' so fly like a G6”? And what is a G6? One member from Far East Movement, Kev Nish, told MTV News,
A G6 is not a Gatorade flavor. It’s not a car, convertible, four-door. It’s not a watch. But Drake, Drake talks about having G4 pilots on deck, so we said, ‘What’s flyer than a G4?’ Of course, it would be a G6.
But we still want to know what a G6 really is. The G6 refers to the Gulfstream G650, a twin-engine business jet by Gulfstream Aerospace that's currently in flight testing. The aircraft will become Gulfstream’s largest, fastest, and most expensive business jet to enter the market. The G650 is considered to be the ultimate gold standard in business aviation. The cost will start at $58.5 million! Feelin' like a G6 yet? Check out some of the cabin dimensions below and a link to the hit song.
