Katherine Stromsland's WHERE TO GO NEXT: NEW YORK CITY, The Armory Show

The Armory

For the past 14 years, Piers 94 & 92 on the Hudson River have played host to New York’s contemporary art fair, the Armory Show. In 2012, this cultural showcase will run March 8-11, with a greater focus on the galleries, allowing them a larger footprint at the fair.

From museum professionals and avid collectors to the novice admirer, art enthusiasts will enjoy this year’s Commissioned Artist, Theaster Gates. Known for his sculptures, performances and urban installations, Gates is sure to excite audiences with his socially relevant work.

Equally intriguing is this year's Armory Focus: the Nordic Countries, which will allow a select group of galleries from Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway & Sweden to showcase some of the region's most innovative creative talent. While some may complain about the crowds, there is no doubt that the event is a wonderful place to absorb some top-notch contemporary art.

If accommodation is required, consider Chelsea’s hottest new hotel, The Dream Downtown. Conveniently located on Manhattan's west side, it makes it easy for guests to participate in all of the fair’s festivities. Owned by Vikram Chatwel, the Dream Downtown boasts 316 luxuriously modern rooms, all equipped with complimentary high-speed internet access.

From the Dream’s rooftop lounge, PH-D, guests can take in the stunning views of the New York City skyline. Or relax poolside along the Dream Downtown’s 50ft. outdoor heated pool, complete with 5,000 sq ft pool deck, beach club and private cabanas. An imaginative, full-service luxury hotel, it's the perfect match for one of New York City's most exciting annual art shows.

Guns N' Roses Fly Private to Australia

Charter Flight

Guns N' Roses first stepped into the public eye back in 1985 when they released hits including “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Welcome to the Jungle”.  Throughout the years, the now infamous band released six studio albums, three EPs, and one live album while going through numerous line-up changes. After a long hiatus, Guns N Roses has decided to reunite, collectively flying via private jet to Australia earlier today. They were last seen live in concert in Australia nearly three years ago in 2007.  Upon arrival, the notorious Axel Rose promised his Australian fans a good show tonight at Reid Park in Townsville.  The band will be returning to Sydney tomorrow for the Sydney Telstra 500 championships at the Sydney Olympic Park. To conclude their four-date tour in Australia, the band will also be playing December 7th at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and at Perth Motorplex on December 11th.

Fly like a G6 - or should we say G650!

Now I’m feelin' so fly like a G6, like a G6, like a G6.

You might recognize these lyrics from the Billboard Top 100 song, “Like a G6”. The electro-house single by Far East Movement has been number 1 on iTunes and currently has more than 9 million views on YouTube.

So why is it that you’re “feelin' so fly like a G6”? And what is a G6? One member from Far East Movement, Kev Nish, told MTV News,

A G6 is not a Gatorade flavor. It’s not a car, convertible, four-door. It’s not a watch. But Drake, Drake talks about having G4 pilots on deck, so we said, ‘What’s flyer than a G4?’ Of course, it would be a G6.

But we still want to know what a G6 really is. The G6 refers to the Gulfstream G650, a twin-engine business jet by Gulfstream Aerospace that's currently in flight testing. The aircraft will become Gulfstream’s largest, fastest, and most expensive business jet to enter the market. The G650 is considered to be the ultimate gold standard in business aviation. The cost will start at $58.5 million! Feelin' like a G6 yet? Check out some of the cabin dimensions below and a link to the hit song.
