Many travelers fail to take into account the leap in time zones and the toll it can take on your body’s internal clock. Flying from the US to Europe, East Coast to West Coast or vise versa can switch your wristwatch three to nine hours. Your body says, "Hey, what's going on here?" Jet lag can cause some very unpleasant effects such as fatigue, insomnia, poor concentration, confusion, hunger at inappropriate times or lack of appetite, and general malaise and irritability.
Here are some tips to help you avoid jet lag and enjoy your time once you’ve stepped off your private jet:
Charter a Private Jet-
Of course the first step to help avoid jet lag is to fly on a private plane. Unlike commercial airline travel, private jets allow passengers to consume food on the time zone of their destination. Flying privately also provides passengers plenty of legroom to stretch out in the cabin and move about freely—keeping the blood flow circulating helps to avoid jet lag. Another benefit to private jets is that many of them feature 100 percent fresh air in their air circulation systems. Having fresh air in your cabin will allow for better sleep and all around better experience.
Avoid Alcohol-
Stay hydrated throughout the flight by drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine and alcohol, which can disrupt sleeping schedules and further dehydrate your body. Dehydration can intensify the effects of jet lag.
Set Your Watch to Local Time-
As soon as the cabin doors shut, you should set your watch to local time of your destination. It is very important to internalize the time and regardless of what time it is where you are, focus on what time it is where you are going and live according to that time. (Example- if it is 1am where you are going - sleep, if its 1 pm work, watch tv, read) Private aircraft are equipped with reclining, spacious seats; depending on aircraft type, many have staterooms and queen beds. Giving you the ability to comfortably rest your eyes if the time zone calls for it.
Always Bring Something Comfortable to Wear-
Some tracksuit pants, sport socks, anything that looks like pajamas. You can always change on the plane right before you land. Avoid wearing anything that will cut off your circulation. Luckily on a private aircraft you have the ability to move around and even do some yoga moves! That will also help keep your blood flowing.

In recent years, overflight routing opportunities above Cuba have slightly changed. It is important that flights flown for business purposes, charters, and even corporate aircraft are aware of current permit requirements and air way options. While obtaining a Cuban Overflight Permit is a generally basic process, here are a few tips for private jet travelers to make the procedure even more seamless.
1. Are overflight permits required for Cuba?
Overflight permits are necessary for private non-revenue and charter (non-scheduled commercial) flights on most routes. Permits are valid for the Zulu day requested, and operators may overfly Cuba using any valid airway. The only notable Cuba permit change in recent years has been that Cuban authorities no longer apply the three “corridors” that were used in the past to transit north and south. There are now certain routes through Cuban airspace where overflight permits are not required. These include B646, UB646, B879, UB879, G765, UG765 and B764 or UB764.
2. Are there restrictions in east-west or west-east overflights?
Now that flights do not have to follow one of the “corridors” that were previously in place, it’s possible to overfly Cuba east-west (or vice versa). While operators now have access to east-west and west-east overflights on approved airways, keep in mind that use of J-routes will not be permitted by Cuban Air Traffic Control (ATC).
3. Are permits processed using a call sign or an aircraft tail number?
Crews will need to use their call sign when transiting Cuban airspace if the permit was obtained using a call sign. The same is applied to permits obtained using a tail number. It’s important to be consistent in permit filings. When making permit revisions with the Cuban Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), always use the aircraft reference (either call sign or tail number) that was submitted on the original permit request and be sure to include a complete schedule from the original request.
4. What are lead time requirements?
According to the Cuban aeronautical information publication (AIP), a lead time of 48 hours is required to obtain an overflight permit. Short-notice applications are often possible – even on weekends and holidays – when working with a 3rd-party provider. It’s at the CAA’s discretion, however, to approve any short-notice request within the official lead time, unless the 3rd-party provider can offer a block permit.
5. What information is required for a Cuban overflight permit?
You’ll need to provide the operator name and address, aircraft type, registry, maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) and schedule. No aircraft documentation is necessary.
6. Are there advantages to using a 3rd-party provider for Cuban overflight permits?
Due to economic sanctions, Cuba CAA cannot be paid for overflight permits from a U.S. bank. Therefore, arrangements through a 3rd-party provider are suggested. Working with a 3rd-party provider is especially helpful if you need to make changes or permit revisions while traveling.
7. What are other tips to consider with Cuban overflights?
It’s recommended not to request Cuban overflight permits more than two weeks in advance. For multiple overflights of Cuba, it’s best to request all permits at one time. Keep in mind that Cuba overflight permits can be set up on a monthly basis.

Since the beginning of time every self-respecting gadget geek has dreamed of flying as free as a bird via a workable jetpack. Today, that dream is a reality. The Martin Jetpack, which was showcased at Idex in February, is a collaboration between Emirates Advanced Research and Technology Holding (Earth), Khalifa University and the New Zealand-based Martin Aircraft Company.
It uses sophisticated composites and a highly efficient propulsion system to achieve the goal of personal flight, with many safety features including a ballistic parachute. Originally made for military use, such as search and rescue and police force, there is a civilian version that can travel at a cruising speed of 100kph and reach heights of 1,500 meters. Why use a private jet when you could flight yourself there with a jetpack? Joking, of course, this beast of a machine only allows you 30 minutes of flight time and be careful not to go too high when your time is almost up. Photo courtesy Boston Globe/David L. RyanBoston's Logan airport remains closed in the aftermath of the blizzard Friday and Saturday. The storm, named Nemo, dumped as much as 28" of snow on some parts of Massachusetts with wind gusts up to 85 mph. The FAA closed Logan airport around 1:30PM on Friday, and it will remain closed until 11:00PM on Saturday night to allow ground crews time to clear off runways, taxiways, and ramps.
Other Boston area airports remain closed as well, including Bedford (KBED), Norwood (KOWD) and Beverly (KBVY). New York area airports like Teterboro (KTEB) and White Plains (KHPN) remain open, but there is still a lot of snow and ice on the taxiways and ramps making for slow going on the ground.
